Review of A Room for Romeo Brass (1999) by Charles S — 08 Jun 2007
One of my favorite films and easily makes top 5 in my list. Directed by Shane Meadows (a fellow Brummy) who is without doubt one of the finest directors in England at the moment and up there with the likes of Ken Loach.
Based in the Midlands on a run down estate in Nottingham this film explores the friendship between two 12 year old boys and how it is tested when a stranger called Morell comes between them. Morell is played by another great British actor Paddy Consadine who gives a performance that in my opinion is up there with any of the greatest ever.
Think Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver but English. Nice to see a movie that shows the great side of the British film industry and how good it can be. Watch this you will not be dissapointed and if you like it check out some other films by Shane Meadows i.
E. Dead Mans Shoes, This is England and 24/7, it's not all about Guy Ritchie you know!!!
