Review of A Quiet Place (2018) by Sarah D — 22 Apr 2018
A simple story about family and survival that cleverly engages its audience in an interactive game of silence where you get to be hyper-aware of every tiny sound, of people breathing, and gasping faintly, and then chewing their snacks to a rhythm. My phone blipped halfway through, though. I was sorry and embarrassed, but it was so funny seeing how the viewers become almost like the creatures in the film themselves as they go batshit crazy at every sound. I couldn't help but cackle, thus, making an even louder sound. Hahaha.
Overall, the story fell a little too thin for my taste, but observing people both on the screen and in the cinema as they are forced into silence is strangely amusing that makes up for a bizarre theater experience.
