Review of A Quiet Place (2018) by Nutcrackr — 25 May 2018
CLopez82 said it all and more. But let me just say that I really liked the bathtub scene with Emily Blunt; it was obviously a case of everything going bad and Emily channeling her inner Marv, but still made the film okay. Monster design is kinda cool too.
The logic falls down in the back third for me, not just because of the many plot conveniences, but because things are not consistent. I don't want to spoil but it's a combination of the threat being over and the participants making it much worse for no good reason. The kids are unbelievably frustrating with their decision making even though they've been living in the world for over a year and appear to have the basics down pat. The end is Spielberg level absurdity, done badly.
