Review of A Quiet Place (2018) by Dexter B — 25 Jul 2018
When I first saw the trailer for this I wasn't really interested. I like horror movies but something about the trailer just didn't get me interested at all. Recently I got really into The Office though, and the movie got good reviews, so I decided I really wanted to see Jim from The Office's movie.
I have a lot of small nitpicks with the movie, but nothing that really brings the movie down. Overall I'd say it is a great film and I enjoyed it a lot.
The cinematography is really good, the movie looks beautiful and there is a lot of interesting looking shots.
The direction from Krasinski was great. I know he's directed a few smaller films before this, but I was surprised to find out Jim from the Office is such a good director. Of course he also wrote the film too.
It is definitely one of the most tense movies I've ever seen. The entire movie is so stressful, but in a good way, if you're into movies making you feel like that, I know some aren't.
There is some heart breaking and touching moment,s I got very close to crying at one point and probably will cry there on rewatches.
Creature design definitely gets a good grade from me. I had no idea what to expect with them and figured they would be some generic movie monster, but they looked really scary and interesting.
Overall I would highly recommend it, but remember to suspend your disbelief and remember it is just a movie, don't let the nitpicks bring it down for you too much like RLM did.
