Same basic plot as Tremors from 1990, what is all of the hype?

I never comment on movies but I had to since I was duped into paying a premium rental by all the high ratings.

The critics obviously had an agenda other than being forthcoming about quality of this movie's content and sound track. What little sound there was is nothing special. It's an OK watch but not worth the premium rental. Wait for a reduced rental rate or for it to come out on one of the other movie services.

This movie was similar to tremors: it was shallow, unimaginative, and laughable. Creatures were supposedly indestructible, yet one is easily taken down. Really? How did they managed to wipe out nearly an entire population and its military without being taken out first?

Birdbox is only a little better than this, but at least Birdbox has a more imaginative more developed story, yet ratings are lower for it somehow.
