Review of A Quiet Passion (2016) by David M — 27 Aug 2017
While the first twenty minutes are truly horrendous, with overly broad, animated "stage" acting, once Cynthia Nixon takes over as the older Emily Dickinson things get interesting. Keith Carradine (who plays her father) and Jennifer Ehle (who plays her sister) are also excellent.
While much of the script plays like a disjointed series of "Mark Twain-sounding" quips on life and God, I was glad I stuck with it; and even more glad I watched the interview with Cynthia Nixon afterwards in the Bonus features.
