Review of A Quiet Passion (2016) by Kerr L — 17 Sep 2017
Completely brilliant journey from light to dark. Via image, music and word. Davies is a great film artist, and he has engaged world-class collaborators to realize his vision.
However, if you don't like words, have ADHD, or think The Fast and The Furious is the height of cinematic art, you're not going to like this. It's not slow, but it is deliberate, which is good, because it is as packed with meaning as a Medieval tapestry. Most of all, you have to be prepared to contemplate what life is for and how you will leave it justified. A masterwork for those with the wit to see it.
