Many independent low budget movies get high praise for being different when in fact they're just pretentious guff. Nothing pretentious about A Prayer Before Dawn , it's a film so believable that if you didn't know better you’d think it was a fly on the wall documentary.
It’s authentic to the core. the cons are actual ex cons, the fights are real. The lack of subtitles to show us William’s language barrier is excellent film making. The hellholish and the glimmer that is human hope is perfect really hit me.
I know Thailand quite well and this is spot on in it’s depiction of the drug situation and Thai people. They’ve heart of gold. Joe Cole can hold his head up high for the rest of his acting career.
He was outstanding.
