Disappointing film. I'm a fan of Garrison Keillor and of the PHC radio show, where one of the advantages is that one cannot see what the actors look like, so one can use one's imagination to "fill in the gaps".

I thought the "star turns" pretty bad, particularly La Streep, who seemed to turn in a patronising performance. The Virgina Madsen "Angel" character was tiresome. Didn't think much of Kevin Kline.

And what was Tommy Lee doing? The "Dusty & Lefty" sequence and GK's own spots were excellent and the sound FX guy deserves a movie of his own. Altman's directorial style really irritates.

Shame, really.
