Review of A Place in the Sun (1951) by John P — 15 Jul 2010
I've given this one a couple of shots but ultimately always feel let down. Not surprisingly, Dreiser's "An American Tragedy" (upon which this was based) has so much more depth and emotional involvement.
"A Place in the Sun" is a sort of Cliff Note's version of the book. It isn't a bad movie, per se, but it still fails to live up to the source material.
