Review of A Perfect World (1993) by Chris K — 16 Jul 2007
The most underrated Eastwood film I have ever seen. It is interesting to comprehend just how sympathetic we the audience are to feel towards Kevin Costner's character, undoubtedly a criminal but troubled by his poor upbringing and somewhat appreciated for providing a father figure to a boy who never had one, although it is in a rather unconventional way.
One of the best parts of this film is that its scenes switch between Costner and Eastwood, who are both fantastic in the movie, and therefore it never becomes stale or boring. And it is fair to say that in 1993, a time when Costner and Eastwood were established as acting greats, their great competition (or collaboration, I should say) came from a six-year-old boy named T.
J. Lowther, who was just as terrific in the movie as they were. A great film that more people should see.
