Review of A Perfect Plan (2012) by John M — 03 Dec 2008
Probably the laziest animated feature of the year. I did not get to see it in 3-D, but I have read that that is the only thing it has going for it. The premise, as you can guess, is about a fly that has a burning desire to go to the moon.
He convinces his two fly buddies to hitch a ride to moon with the Apollo 11 mission. There are some underdeveloped Russian fly villains that are annoyed by them and plot to stop them. It's a shame, cause I didn't laugh once.
You get the same two jokes over and over again. Oh, the mother flies faint, and oh, the fat fly likes to eat. And these are flies! Who's idea was this? I mean, Pixar can pull off making rats and robots look cute, but flies and maggots will ALWAYS be gross.
I would say that the only good thing about it is that it's only 80 minutes long, but because it is so laugh-free, it feels exponentially longer. Makes Space Chimps look razor-sharp.
