Review of A Perfect Getaway (2009) by Misty S — 02 Apr 2011
What I thought was going to be an unoriginal, tired piece of shit actually turned out to be a solid, efficient, and gripping thriller. Director David Twohy knows what he's doing and definitely keeps you on your toes.
There's a simple, classic style to the progression of story and the way the action plays out; I can't say with any authority what the writer/director's influences were, but to me the film felt like Bergman-meets-Hitchcock-meets-Polanski, but with a happy ending.
The film is also surprisingly technically sound, with fantastic editing and of course beautiful cinematography.
