Review of A Perfect Getaway (2009) by Laura S — 01 May 2015
I went to see this in the theater. I thought it would be okay, nothing special... but, why not? I actually enjoyed it more than I thought. I recommend watching it more than once and really paying attention to the details, because the writers actually did handle a somewhat stale storyline in such a clever way that it makes you forget that you're watching a plot-line unfold that's been done 1,000,000 times before.
There is some seriously cheesy dialogue - mostly from the "southern" couple - Nick and Gina. Ex. Nick gets shot in the head and "still wanted to Monkey-F*ck a Marlboro light." Seriously? Also, "Woopty-Ta" ? Really? Maybe it's just some Southern thing I'm not familiar with, but I doubt it. They just needed something original, I guess, so that Cydney's character had something to say to enlighten the audience to the fact that they were about to take over Nick & Gina's lives.
Outside of the occasionally cheesy dialogue, I think it brought a stale plot-line back to life and it did exceed my expectations.
I recommend watching it. Twice.
