Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street: The Dream Child (1989) by Jeremy K — 04 Apr 2009
This is a movie that looks a little better each time I watch it. It's not great, but it's not that bad at all. The visuals sometimes remind me of Tim Burton movies, and it has a cast that mostly does the job, with a bit of improvement from Wilcox.
However, I just couldn't get into Jacob's character; he's alright, but he seems somewhat artificial. The whole story with Freddy's mom is very interesting, but there are plot points that are simply strange and worth eye-rolls.
The deaths are just ridiculous; there's pretty much nothing scary about Freddy anymore. Just for the record, didn't he sound more intimidating when he was referred to as Fred Krueger rather than Freddy Krueger? Kinda shows how different the series has become.
