Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) by David L — 14 Nov 2009

Okay first off, Freddy raps during the credits? Good grief. They just couldn't leave well enough alone could they? After the phenomenal third film, they had to make this crap? Hardly anything worked. The acting is God-awful, the storyline is lame, the dialogue is stupid, and the kills are boring. At best, they're just gross (turning a girl into a roach, really Freddy?).

They kill off the dream warriors, and it's not even the same actress playing Kristen. All the characters I liked are gone, so what's left for me to be interested in? The only point in this movie was to make more money. I was hoping there would be more to the idea of the "Dream Master," I suppose that's my fault for expecting to much.

The only thing preventing this from getting 1 and a half stars is Freddy is in it more, and his death scene is pretty awesome; it's a shame the rest of the movie couldn't have been as good as the ending. That was the only part that really satisfied me, and they had to go and ruin it too by leaving the story open for a sequel.

Ah well, I won't waste anymore time berating this crapfest; I'd be spending more time thinking about it than the writers did if I continued. I suppose I will continue the series, maybe the later additions will be better.
