Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) by Bubbs R — 25 Jun 2017
"Welcome To Wonderland, Alice." The Dream Master is the forth instalment in the Nightmare On Elm Street Series. This is one of the better ones. Even though it's sometimes cheesy, it's still a fun horror flick. Following up the previous Nightmare film, the dream demon Freddy Krueger is resurrected from his apparent demise, and rapidly tracks down and kills all three of the surviving Elm Street kids. However, Kristen (who has the ability to draw others into her dreams) wills her special ability to her friend Alice before her demise. Afterwords, Alice soon realizes that Freddy is taking advantage of that unknown power she now wields to pull a new group of teenage children into his world. This film beings a cool new idea to the series. Alice gains the kids powers once Freddy kills them. One of them is good at karate while another is strong. She gets all those powers by the end of the film. That idea was an interesting plot point in this film. The acting was great again, a group of believable teenagers. The kills were over the top as always. The best kill in this film has to be the karate kill or the waterbed kill. Those kills are presented with a classic freddy one liner also. The weirdest kill though is the bodybuilding kill. It has weird visuals and doesn't really make sense. The runtime was good and the film was well paced. This is either my third or forth favourite in the series. It's definitely one of the better ones. If you love Freddy or horror films, check this one out. .
