Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) by Steve D — 15 Jul 2014
The good news: the dream sequences and kills are the coolest (though usually not scariest) in the series thus far. The dialogue is (usually) great, Robert Englund is at his best, and Alice is a pretty good character.
The bad news: Alice is really the only good human character, the story is bad, the scenes run too quick but the movie runs too long, the plotting is misfired, and the whole movie feels a little overcooked.
A highly enjoyable slasher movie, but only as a slasher movie.
