Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master (1988) by Al M — 05 Aug 2010
Nightmare 4 continues the downward trend started with Dream Warriors. The Dream Master picks up with the living members of Dream Warriors apparently leading normal lives as high school students until Freddy begins to reappear.
They are quickly killed to make room for the new female protagonist, Alice who receives Kristen's ability to draw people into dreams when she witnesses Kristen's death in the dream world. Of course, the whol cylce starts again with Alice's friends.
The Dream Master is still an entertaining film, but Freddy becomes an increasingly laughable and clownish figure; hence, the film is never actually scary--it's just packed with death, gore, and comedic one-liners.
