Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) by Amanda H — 30 Jun 2009
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) -- [6.5] -- I like this sequel as much as the original. I think Freddy works better with a sense of humor, which was scant in the first film, but begins to blossom here (though it goes too far in further installments).
I'm empathetic to the movie's gang of troubled adolescents, including a young Patricia Arquette. Priscilla Pointer is pretty good as the Nurse Ratched of the story. There's some memorable gore, including a scene where Freddy uses one kid's veins as marionette strings.
I could have done without John Saxon's involvement, which is forced, unnecessary, and anti-climactic, but hey, at least he gets to fight a stop-motion Freddy skeleton! So yeah, I pretty much like this movie because I'm a dork.
