Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) by Vanessa H — 17 Oct 2009
Very entertaining Nightmare on elm street sequel. This time the victims fight back.
Second Viewing Review: After watching the remaining Nightmare on Elm Street sequels, this proves to be one of the better ones. I didn't think too highly of this one because I didn't watch the other ones until later. This movie is highly imaginative, and it expands the universe with more origins to Freddy's past, including how he was conceived and how he keeps the souls of the children he kills.
Bringing back Nancy Thompson and her father was also really good idea, as it connects to the first one quite nicely. There is some 80's cheese with the 'super powers' and everything, but its highly enjoyable and Freddy is a lot scarier in this one than the second movie.
I liked how the kids in the movie at least had a chance to fight back. That is a rare thing you see in horror slashers, usually only the 'final girl' only does this, but in this there is some resistance from other characters.
If only parts 2, 4, 5, and 6 were as good as this one, we'd have one of the best horror series ever.
