Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987) by Stefan N — 22 Dec 2013
When great writers are brought in, great things happen. Director Chuck Russell changes the tone of the franchise which will be replicated miserably in future Nightmare films. He offers a slightly more comedic mood to balance the gruesomely dark and scary one.
The most enjoyable and unique characters are found in this installment. The writers take a bold step by putting the teenagers in a mental hospital which is pretty much how these teens would be treated in real life.
Freddy comes back less scary, but this time he adds humor. I really like this Freddy, because he generates panic and fear while making the audience laugh out loud. Moreover, the main character of the first installment is brought back and the dream world is thoroughly developed.
Teenagers are know fighting Freddy in their dreams together as a team. "A Nightmare on Elm Street 3- Dream Warriors" almost surpasses the original by bringing an amusing and chilling story together with some nice direction and writing.
