This is the true sequel to the original 'Nightmare on Elm Street' as opposed to the second installment that was riddled with inconsistencies. There are some instances of The 'Dream Warriors' where some scenes involving Freddy come off a bit humorous, but Freddy is still a menacing and deadly threat to his teenage victims.
Wes Craven's involvemnet also makes this one of the better sequels.
