Review of A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) by Chase M — 05 Jan 2013

Now from my review of the remake, you think this is my favorite movie of all time, the king of horror movies, the finest wine in the blood-slippered winery. Well... it's not really my best film of all time and horror is not even my favorite genre of movies, but this is my favorite horror film.

I should told you that earlier, but that's my way, of telling my point of view. Nevertheless, what's the story (sort of)? There's a killer who kills annoying teenagers, how can you mess that up? Well, it doesn't, the characters fleshed out (pun attended), the effects look real (for the most part), and Freddy is great MURDERER! But before I continue, let me say that I hated the remake because it was a remake, and a poor one at best, so there is a bias between a movie and its remake.

When someone makes a remake, it does have judged compared to the original, though the movie should stand on its own. And that's another problem with most remakes, it does usually stand on its own, it always needs the help of its original.

I just realized that the remake was so bad that it's in my review of good movie. Back on track, Robert Englund owns the role as Freddy, bring both horror and fun, to make a deadly combination. Enough said.

The special effects work well, though some appear to be dated, but it was the times, so it gets an A for effort. Overall, the movie is interesting, the characters work well, and it is a blast to watch, I give "A Nightmare on Elm Street" a 8 out of 10.

By the way, if you have the latest "Mortal Kombat" game, get the Freddy DLC, I know it's the remake version of him, but he's still a lot of fun.
