Review of A Night to Remember (1958) by Dmitri A — 30 Sep 2011
Great movie. The quintessential account of the Titanic disaster. No superficial love stories, no meaningless sub-plots, no Hollywood b.s., no James Cameron style-over-substance.
Historically accurate, yet sensitive and emotional too. You know how everything is going to end, and have to watch helplessly as the last few hours of people's lives are played out.
Tight, well-paced direction.
Kenneth More is superb in the lead role, as Second Officer Lightoller. Good supporting cast too.
The only Titanic movie you need to see, or worth seeing.
