Review of A Night to Remember (1958) by Ryan V — 13 May 2012
James Cameron dramatized the Titanic's sinking in a much more profitable fashion, but A Night to Remember also made waves when it debuted in 1958. Based on the novel by Walter Lord, this film is about how poor planning and human hubris resulted in how an "unsinkable" ocean liner fell to the briny deep after striking an iceburg.
The performances in this movie are a bit dated, but overall this is an historically accurate and tensely gripping recreation of the disaster.
