Review of A Night to Remember (1958) by Matt M — 05 Jul 2013
This highly detailed dramatisation of the famous sinking of the Titanic is one of the most outstanding pieces of works of British cinema of the fifties and of all times. The film is well shot and well made, highlighting the historical importance of the event in the advancement of already renewing safety technologies, questioning the ethics of beliefs in certainties and makes one feel emotional towards the many characters displayed.
Most admirably, the film recreates a disaster drama but never loses its entertainment appeal by utilizing a British sense of humor and some of the most gripping action sequences of its time.
