Review of A Night at the Opera (1935) by Martin O — 17 Apr 2006
Very good and enjoyable comedy by Marx brothers. Though some elements are timed, these are few comparing to untimed ones. Some scenes are comedy classics and performances are brilliant. Groucho is the great with his hardhittingly funny lines, Harpo is very comical when breaking everything while being completely silent, Chico is the least effective of three, though he has a memorable piano-playing sequence.
Though there is a romance put into the plot, it is just a device to give some comical situations to Marx bros. It has some great scenes, nice music, moronic performances and witty script to make it a true comedy classic.
