Review of A Most Violent Year (2014) by Jason M — 18 May 2015
The anti-Crime Drama with an anti-clamax. Short on thrills, short on affect. Dry and droll without much of anything to see. Perhaps Im giving "A Most Violent Year" a half star for trying to create something new and different but it has the same problem as most other films.
It is fairly unrealistic and because of this it is close to impossible to pull off. It loses credibility over and over again. Everything from the mob wife, to his attorney sidekick, to his dealings with competitors to the overly entire waste of screen time on the rattled truck driver.
"Hey Abel, do some violent shit!" Either that or make the entire film something else. In real life we all know what Abel does and its way more interesting. But lets pretend as if there is honor amongst thieves.
