Christopher Guest and his usual ensemble present a mockumentary about has-been '60s folk singers reunited decades later for a concert in honour of Irving Steinbloom, the man who discovered them. If you've seen any of Guest's other movies you'll know what to expect.

For the first ten minutes or so I feared that it might simply be a folk rehash of This is Spinal Tap, though these fears were assuaged by some genuinely laugh-out-loud moments, and some fantastic characters.

The songs are all on the mark, and the attention to detail is superb. I particularly like the old album covers. There is a real sense that Guest and cowriter Eugene Levy have actual affection for their subjects, which makes this more of a gentle satire.

Nevertheless, it's highly entertaining and very funny.
