Winterbottom is a fantastic director - if you haven't seen this or 'A Cock and Bull Story', 'Code 46' or '24 Hour Party People' then check them out. Here he manages to direct Jolie to a great performance - so good that she managed to transcend her celebrity and lose herself in the role of Mariane Pearl.
It's nice to see more films these days that are set internationally and actually have the actors speaking the local tongue. Very good acting all around and of course, a very, very sad story which remains compelling despite the well known true ending for Daniel Pearl.
