If you've never studied the history of Europe/the Catholic Church, the significance of the events in this movie may not mean too much.
I found the performances to be brilliant. Every actor was spot on. A great story of one man's struggles and perseverance in standing up for himself.
If I remember correctly, one of Kevin Smith's favorites.
