Review of A Man for All Seasons (1966) by Mya G — 04 Dec 2008
The strongest aspect of this movie is clearly Paul Scofield's performance as Thomas More. He is exceptional. A young John Hurt, Leo McKern and a powerful (though brief) appearance by Robert Shaw as King Henry VIII add to it.
Fantastic film-making and the script by Robert Bolt is suscinct and gripping - perhaps the hardest thing to accomplish when writing an historical piece, when the surface story is already known.
