Review of A Man for All Seasons (1966) by Briton D — 14 Dec 2008
Sir Thomas More is one of history's noblest men, and his story deserves to be told. However, since his was such an internal and unadorned nobility, it doesn't translate into a traditionally "exciting" film.
What it does translate into is a story that becomes more moving the more you think about it, and Paul Scofield sells those speeches. It's also a lot of fun to see a young John Hurt, looking like Ringo Starr.
