Review of A Man Called Otto (2022) by Srf — 09 Jan 2023
I agree with Richard Roeper that “A Man Called Otto” is “… a small and warmhearted gem”.
Yes, this film does tug at the heartstrings quite a bit, but it also deals with many different aspects of the human condition. In a believable way it covers such topics/issues as suicide, love, loyalty, friendship, loss/grief, forgiveness, and more. I was surprised that Tom Hanks was able to be so authentic in his role. The screenplay is excellent, as is the supporting cast, especially Mariana Trevino, who plays his pregnant neighbour. I would recommend this film to anyone who is interested in real human stories.
