Mr and Mrs Hanks produce a consolatory, pleasurable and feel-good movie packaged in a blatantly ruffian, manipulative and tear-jerking way. However, the survivor syndrome as a basic idea differentiates it from apparent analogies with "Gran Torino" (Eastwood 2008), "As Good as It Gets" (Brooks 1997), etc.
