Review of A Lonely Place to Die (2011) by Ollie W — 01 Jan 2012
The supporting cast are about as 2D as you can get, but Melissa George and Ed Speelers make a great sparring couple, while Sean Harris is absolutely superb as the predatorily vile kidnapper pursuing a group of rock climbers who accidentally come across his bounty with brutal efficiency.
Eamonn Walker and Karel Roden have little to do, but accomplish much (The scene in the pub with Harris and Roden is horrifying and electric) and Gilbey's script and direction is economical and stylish in equal measure.
A B-grade concept is perfectly executed, culminating in one of the most impressive British Horror-Thriller's since The Descent.
