Review of A Little Romance (1979) by Allan C — 19 Aug 2014
To some who didn't grow up with self centered parents, much like those whom haven't worked in the fashion related industry like the girl in The Devil Wears Prada, this film might seem unlikely.
. However as a bright boy who grew up with two overwhelmingly successful self indulgent parents its not so out of bounds. This is a coming of age story for those of us who were "so much older than, but are younger than that now".
I loved every min of it as a young adult and as a 43 year revisiting it for the first time in 30 years. Who can resist a 12 year old Diane Lane as she takes control so naturally of the charater, and the others around her follow suit.
Reguardless if you had such a childhood all can identify with that first love and first loss, the beauty of Europe, and the adventure in following your dreams before the matter-of-fact-ness of life thosses caution into your heart and mind.
Sit back, enjoy, and let go of your adult perceptions.
