Review of A Late Quartet (2012) by Aaron V — 17 Dec 2012
An example where the acting of the talented ensemble (particularly Walken and Hoffman) can overcome a rather pedestrian (bordering on the melodramatic) script. The cast is up for the challenge to examine the sacrifice of the consummate artist, but most the writing presents nothing inspiring nor original.
There is also a missed opportunity of such little actual performance of the string quartet (or any ensemble for that matter).
