Review of A Late Quartet (2012) by Michael M — 08 Feb 2016
I went to this film thinking I was seeing QUARTET, a film starring Maggie Smith which (I later learned) isn't scheduled to be released until January. Already comfy in my chair and halfway through my popcorn, I decided to stay.
After about ten minutes, I regretted my choice. This film does absolutely nothing to improve on the stodgy image of classical music, let alone the talented artists who perform it. It is a dry outing with mannered performers.
The script does well in the plot department, but the dialogue is deadly dull and it is hard to care about one of these dull people, let alone a quartet.
