Review of A King in New York (1957) by Matt K — 01 Jan 2008
I really really liked this movie. It is a very funny and biting satire of all things about 50's America. As a movie buff I especially like the part about widescreen movies. Other brilliant parts were the hidden camera dinner and the communist kid.
Chaplin's last starring role, and he could still do it very well. This movie does not have as much physical comedy (as he was about 70 at the time), but there is some great stuff, especially the finger-in-the-fire hose scene.
Highly recommended.
