Review of A King in New York (1957) by Victor L — 22 Dec 2009
An extremely entertaining film, reminiscent in some ways of THE GREAT DICTATOR. Chaplin (as a bankrupt, deposed monarch) comes to New York and tries to make sense of the everyday world. Soon, he befriends a 10 year old Communist, whose parents are in trouble due to witch hunts.
Wonderfully funny until the final, heart-wrenching scene.
