Review of A Hologram for the King (2016) by Nilesh J — 29 Jul 2016
In a way, this movie is the Saudi Arabia version of "Lost in Translation" with the rarely covered (in movies) nation as the backdrop (shooting was not in SA though). The movie works when it is focusing on the unique customs and lifestyles of the country but the story itself is somewhat weak and too even at a low-tension level.
In the desire to perhaps be politically correct, the movie neither succeeds in testing the limits of humour arising out of culture clashes nor attempts any social messages.
