Review of A History of Violence (2005) by Mat H — 31 May 2010
Wait. Maybe my version was different from the one everyone else watched. Did I watch the same movie? This movie was horrid! Horrible writing in dialog AND plot. Was this supposed to be some type of avant garde piece about character existentialism? If it was then why didn't I learn anything?
Fifty minutes into the film I was still wondering when we were going to learn what the plot was about besides getting constantly reminded how much we should like Viggo Mortensen and his character's family.
The last quarter of the film was a jumbled mess of what looked like a desperate attempt to have some sort of plot and lock it down. Which they failed at that too. I didnt care for the characters, acting or the movie at all.
