Review of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006) by Lady D — 30 Jun 2010
OMG THIS WAS AMAZING.
Netflix recommendation has done it again. I rated Basketball Diaries 5 stars and Netflix said 'Hey Mark why don't you give this flick a shot'. Of course I said 'sure thing old buddy.'.
Well Netflix was right.
This film is great. It is very reminiscent of the attitude and feeling of Basketball Diaries. I usually hate Shia LaBeouf and Channing Tatum but they did a great job in this film.
I originally saw Robert Downey Jr. and though I would love it. Well actually he really isn't seen in the film all that much actually, but it was still damn good.
And as always Chazz Palminteri puts on one hell of a performance.
This is Director and Writer Dito Montiels first work and it's great. Just like Basketball Diaries you can feel the passion that went into the story since it was about their actual life. He does a great job of telling this story as well as making it interesting to watch. His directing style is something that I love as well and if you watch it you will understand what I am getting at.
I highly recommend this film to everyone. I wouldn't watch it with young children though as it does contain some adult topics as well as a good amount of language and some violence and drug use as well.
Enjoy it though because I know I did.
