Roman Coppola's directorial debut is as ambitious as it is intolerable. There's a greater accentuation on style as opposed to character development, which asks viewers to beg the question of why the mind of Charles Swan is worth giving a glimpse into.
The film feels as if it's got a distinctive look to it, which is admirable, but there isn't enough substance to make me give a damn about anything else.
