Review of A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (2014) by Adrian S — 11 Jul 2015
A strikingly atmospheric and stylized rendition of that most tired genre - the vampire movie. Although it isn't in the same league as Jim Jarmusch's Only Lovers Left Alive, A Girl still manages to come up on its own as it doesn't try to, ahem, bite off more than it can chew, preferring to take its time indulging in its few kooky characters in a nihilistic and bleak backdrop, rather than going for shocks and high body count.
Audience-pleasing? No. Darkly-charming? Yes.
