This movie was more of a tribute than a factual biopic. That being said it did a good job of staying true to the idea of Doug Kenney rather than the fact of Doug Kenney. I don't think you could make a biopic about someone like Doug without taking some liberties with the truth.
It did an effective job of showing what a contradictory and troubled person Doug was.
