Review of A Fish Called Wanda (1988) by Mandela W — 18 Dec 2016
A fish called Wanda is the story of a couple, Wanda and Otto who are posing as siblings. They are called up by Ken Pile and George Thomasan for a jewel Heist. This comedic story involves many mishaps by all members involved. It gets so chaotic that Archie Leach George's Barrister gets involved as everyone is playing the game they way they best see fit.
A fish called wanda has a real frantic pace to it but it complements the humor which is really zany and unpredictable. It was very enjoyable film from start to finish. Charles critchon did a fantastic job with this story. It was almost like watching a comedic play at the westend theater in england.
Superb Acting from the cast. kevin kline was marvelous in this truly eccentric role. Its hilarious watching how much he tries to play off that he is smart but he really is a morron. it's a classic comedic style that I haven't seen in ages from a character. the role of wanda is unlike anything I've ever seen Jamie lee Curtis do. She was both sexy and cunning at the same time. very well written smart character here and she does a great job bringing this character to life.
This was one intricate script with so many twists and turns. Very nice music for the score from John Du Prez. good editing as well. England was a nice location choice for the film it provides a nice sense of authenticity to the usual heist films at least I think it did at the time.
Two thumbs up from yours truly on this flick. You will be thoroughly entertained.
