Review of A Fish Called Wanda (1988) by Andy S — 15 Dec 2017
This is something as rear as an original comedy, genuinely funny stuff. Some people are stealing some diamonds. They all go behind each other's backs and there's a total mess. The dobbelcrossing is vital when they get involved with George's attorney. Well, mostly Wanda do.
The four thiefes are very different people. Ken as the stuttering fella, a way too nice and careful guy to steal stuff. Otto is explosive, stupid and very unstable. George is the brain, also the guy that get's caught after the robbery, with the diamonds hidden somewhere. Wanda is the cheeky girl that flirts her way in and out of everything.
The film starts of slow, but the needed story and character building is rewarding.
Plenty of funny scenes in this smart comedy, truly one of the better comedies I've seen.
The acting is superb and if I replace John Cleese for the Tom Georgeson as George, as he is rearly on screen, I think the four leads are amazing. Great work! The great last 30 minutes makes it complete.
8 out of 10 steamrollers.
